Barbara Jane Clarke
Barbara Jane Clarke, 64, of Marble Falls, died March 14 at Seton Hays Hospital after battling cancer and other health issues.
She was born the second daughter of Rev. Billy and Mary Clarke on Feb. 27, 1949 in Cleburne.
While in elementary school in Lockhart, she frequently came to San Marcos with her family to visit a family business on Hopkins Street.
Ms. Clarke graduated from Travis High in Austin and received a BS in nursing with high honors in 1971 from the University of Texas.
She lived and worked in Fort Worth, Conroe and Houston before returning to Austin. During her 36-year career, she trained hundreds of healthcare workers in Texas medical facilities.
She loved music; she composed, arranged and played it with great joy. She sang in the Chancel Choir and the Cantamos Women’s Chorale at First Baptist Church of Austin, where she was also ordained as a deacon.
Her family wishes to thank the church for their concern and care, along with all her care providers.
Ms. Clarke is survived by a sister, Rev. Carol Clarke, of San Marcos and a brother, Jim Clarke, his wife Lynn and two nephews, Justin Clarke of Austin and Tanner Clarke of Belton, as well as an aunt, Olene Tyler of Belton.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Billy and Mary Clarke Mission Fund, Burnet-Llano Baptist Association, 325 Ancient Oaks, Marble Falls, Tx. 78654 or First Baptist Church of Austin or the charity of your choice.
A memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church of Austin, 901 Trinity, on Sunday, April 14 at 3 p.m.
