Asencion DeLeon Sr.
Surrounded by his family, Asencion DeLeon, Sr. was received in the hands of our Heavenly Father on Aug. 19, 2013 at the century-plus age of 104 years. Born Aug. 15, 1909 in San Marcos, he was a resident of Martindale.
A beloved father, grandfather, great grandfather and great-great grandfather as well as uncle, and friend, he is preceded in death by his loving wife of 65 years Carmen DeLeon; parents Manuel and Benita DeLeon, brothers Felipe, Senovio and Antonio DeLeon and two sisters at birth.
Asencion was well known for being straight forward and getting things done. When he needed to relax, Dad loved to play pool and watch baseball, especially the Atlanta Braves and Texas Rangers. Dad would like to sit around and reminisce with his grandchildren.
Dad was a good communicator as well as a listener. Before Mom passed away, Dad and she would like to sit and talk about how things use to be, at times about the chickens he raised. Between that, his family, his laughter and warmth, God graced our family with Dad. We’re happy to have had our Dad for as long as we did and we will miss him dearly, but not forgotten in our hearts.
Survivors are his daughters Anita DeLeon, Rosemary DeLeon, Benita Rodriguez and husband Frank, JoAn Martinez and husband Gabriel (all from Martindale), Angela Alvarez and husband Juan of Lockhart and Mary Dismuke and husband John of San Marcos,
