‘Dream San Marcos’ rolls on; city council gives OK
A process that started with “Dream San Marcos” is now coming to an end as the city’s new master plan enters the final stages of adoption by the city council.
Tuesday night the city council held the first of two public hearings on the new plan called “Vision San Marcos: A River Runs Through Us” and then by unanimous vote voiced approval.
Up next is another public hearing at the April 16 council meeting followed by a vote for final adoption and then an April 24 “adoption party” at the Texas Music Theater, site of the first public gathering when the process began in 2012.
Bill Taylor, chair of the steering committee, went through a timeline of events leading up to last night’s presentation highlighting the online Dream San Marcos survey, numerous community visioning workshops, the design rodeo, open house and speaker’s bureau to make presentations and seek input throughout the city starting back in February of last year.
