Commissioners Court recognizes Region 13 Teacher of the Year Connie Bagley

The Hays County Commissioners Court passed a resolution at is Aug. 20 meeting honoring San Marcos Consolidated ISD schoolteacher Connie Bagley. Bagley was named Region 13 Teacher of the Year by the Texas Association of School Administrators for her work in teaching children with dyslexia.
The unique program she developed for SMCISD has become a best practice model for dyslexia programs worldwide.
The resolution passed by the Court notes Connie has made a significant contribution to Hays County and its children by helping hundreds of children learn to read and, as a result, they have been able to meet with success in school and in life.
A graduate of San Marcos High School, Southwest Texas State University (now Texas State) and the Southern Methodist University Graduate Dyslexia Program, she is a Dyslexia Specialist at SMCISDs Crockett Elementary School. Her career has spanned 41 years teaching in Florida, California, Texas and for the Department of Defense in Germany, as well as tutoring in Southeast Asia.
Region 13 comprises 60 public schools, 19 charter schools, 17 private schools and eight institutions of higher education across 17 counties in Central Texas.
