SUMMERTIME CELEBRATION: Over 1,600 graduates take part in summer commencement at Texas State

Over 1,600 students received their undergraduate and graduate degrees from Texas State University during three commencement ceremonies hosted inside Strahan Arena on Friday. Above, a Texas State graduate dances as he goes to receive his diploma. Tiffany Henderson is one of many Texas State University students that could barely contain her excitement as she christened her new class ring. The event, known as the Ring Ceremony, took place at the Meadow Center over the weekend. Students placed their ring under a new fountain where water that was pumped from the San Marcos River to christen the piece of jewelry. The senior from Smithville is set to graduate with a degree in public relations.  Daily Record photo by Lance Winter
