Food Banks Turkeys Tackling Hunger in season
The Hays County Commissioners Court once again officially proclaimed October to be Turkeys Tackling Hunger month.
Every year, the Hays County Food Bank kicks off this now infamous campaign and invites Hays County area residents to join the team effort to raise funds for providing turkeys and the trimmings to our neighbors in need.
Last year, donations from individuals, businesses, churches and schools made it possible to provide the much-appreciated turkey box full of Thanksgiving goodies to 2,924 families.
Community generosity made it possible for more than 11,100 Hays County area residents to enjoy the time-honored tradition of preparing a special Thanksgiving meal to share with their loved ones.
This year, opening day of the 2013 Turkeys Tackling Hunger season offensive line-up includes 21 VIP players including Broadway Bank, HEB Ozona Bank, Skiles and Associates Insurance and Community Impact.
