College Track and Field: Texas State fares well at Elite Meet

The Texas State track and field team hod a good showing at last weekends Texas State Elite Meet, which included notable programs from Arkansas, Texas, UCLA, UTSA and Illinois.

Texas State claimed two first-place finishes in the events. Coming through with a personal record time of 14.02 seconds in the mens 110-meter hurdles was Timothy Young, who topped his personal record by more than 0.25 seconds.

Derrick Randle took first place in the triple jump with a distance of 14.65 meters, while Larron Black finished first in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 51.76.

The trio helped the Bobcat men to a third-place team finish with 86.50 points, behind leader Texas with 119.50 points.

For the women, Kelsey Titzman took first in the womens shot put with a throw of 15.19 meters and also finished first in discus with a personal record throw of 46.33 meters. Titzman also took third in the hammer throw with a throw of 50.77 meters.

Jalisa Hall won the hammer throw with a personal-best toss of 56.65 meters.

Dasha Tsema took second in the discus with a throw of 45.52 meters, while Talore Kelly also finished fourth in the shot put at 12.83 meters.

The womens throwers did well throughout the meet to help the Bobcats finish second as a team with 128.50 points, just behind UTSAs women at 131.50.

Texas States top team of Chantesean White, Amber Gilmore, Kellie Trinkaus and Kimberly Krtinich finished teamed up to take first in the 4x400 relay with a time of three minutes, 44.61 seconds.

The mens 4x400-meter relay of Reggie Reed, James Hillard, Tyrone Jackson and Anthony Johnson finished fourth with a time of 3:13.23.

The Bobcats will next travel to the Texas Relays over the next weekend while also hosting the Bobcat Invitational on Thursday and Friday.
