College Football: Texas State adds SMU to 2019, 2020 non-conference slates

Athletic director Larry Teis laid out his goal for the football program in the coming years when it comes down to scheduling: At some point, he wants Texas State to remain within the confines of the Lone Star State for all of its non-conference games.

The Bobcats have already taken steps toward making that happen.

As expected, Texas State and Southern Methodist University announced on Wednesday morning that they had agreed to a home-and-home series in football.

By statistics alone, Texas State was one of the best offenses in the Sun Belt last season.

While Georgia Southern and Arkansas State garnered most of the attention around Sun Belt circles, the Bobcats quietly made their mark and sat amongst the top three in the conference in most offensive categories last season.

Women's College Basketball: Bobcats, Texas A&M to face off in opener

Texas State is slowly unveiling its 2015-16 slate of non-conference games throughout this week.

To kick off the season, the Bobcats travel to College Station on Nov. 13 to take on Texas A&M for the first time since 2008. The Aggies finished 23-10 last season and made the NCAA Tournament before being eliminated in the first round by Sun Belt school Little Rock (69-60).

There was a time — and it wasn’t that long ago — when Texas State didn’t know what to expect from its quarterbacks.

After all, early on in the 2013 season, head coach Dennis Franchione cycled through Tyler Arndt, Jordan Moore and eventually Duke DeLancellotti — in one game.

Women's College Basketball: Blair joins Antoine’s staff

Another coach joined the ranks of Texas State this week.

Karen Blair was officially announced as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator for head coach Zenarae Antoine’s staff on Monday. Blair coached at North Texas from 2013 to 2015 and was responsible for the defense, development of perimeter players, in-game floor coaching, opponent scouting, practice planning, scheduling and also assisted with camps.
