Juanita Melinda Kroll Smith
Juanita Melinda Kroll Smith, 81, a resident of Wimberley, peacefully passed away Friday, March 8, 2013 at the home of her daughter after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Juanita was born Oct. 5, 1931 in Waco, the daughter of Frederick E. and Henrietta Strangmeier Kroll. She was united in marriage to James A. Smith on Feb. 17, 1951 in Houston where they lived until moving to Wimberley for retirement. He preceded her in death June 30, 2002.
Juanita was a loving wife and mother who worked as a church business manager at St. Matthew Lutheran in Houston, then as a church secretary at Grace Lutheran in San Marcos. A lifelong member of the Lutheran Church, Missouri Synod, she was active in the Lutheran Women’s Mission League, JULIETS and Careciples.
She is survived by her children and their families: Jan A. Cabral and her children Juan and Marisa of Austin, and Jeff and Laura Smith, and their children Matthew and Sam of Katy.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Grace Lutheran Church of San Marcos.
Funeral services for Juanita Melinda Kroll Smith, will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 14 at Grace Lutheran Church, 1250 Belvin Street, San Marcos.
Burial will be in the Wimberley Cemetery.
The family will greet friends from 5 – 7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 13 at Thomason Funeral Home, 14700 Ranch Road 12 North, Wimberley.
