It’s the right thing to do
I am writing on behalf of my family to share our support for Proposition #1 and Proposition #2 in the Upcoming Bond Election May 11, 2013.
My husband and I have four boys who are current students in San Marcos Consolidated Independent School District (SMCISD).
Jeff is an orthodontist in San Marcos, and as business owners, we are vested in this community and the future of SMCISD and our students. We strongly support both bond initiatives.
Proposition #1 will expand and update campuses, and provide a separate Pre-Kindergarten campus.
In addition to preparing students for entering Kindergarten, the new center will provide working parents access to an expanded full day, learning environment for their young children in SMCISD programs. Providing safety upgrades for facilities and investing in the buildings will ensure that the communities existing investments are maintained and will continue to serve our district’s students as our community continues to grow.
Proposition #1 also includes a new Student Activity Complex and Track and Field renovations at San Marcos High School which is exactly what we need in the SMCISD.
The complex will provide a hub for encouraging healthy lifestyles and serve as a venue for all students and student organizations including: the drill team, athletics teams, and the band. It will be used by all the SMCISD students.
Proposition #2- “The Rattler Stadium!” It is time for San Marcos CISD a 5A school to invest in a stadium for the community. This is an exciting time for Texas State, in its new division. Let’s make it an exiting time for SMCISD by building our own stadium.
Our student-athletes and families will be well served by a central stadium that will be available to host the various events that build community pride and promote excellence among our teams and community.
While stadiums are most attributed to football, especially here in Texas, they also host track meets, drill team competitions, band competitions, and numerous other events that provide positive meaningful experiences for our children and families.
Not only will residents be able to cheer for their favorite teams, the stadium will also be generating income for our booster clubs, student organizations, local businesses and our city.
We have awesome schools in a great community and students with incredible potential. We need to show our support to the young people in our community by saying ‘“Yes Matters.”
Vote yes for both. Do it because you can! Do it because you care! Do it because it is the right thing for our student’s future.
