Epifania A. Martinez
Epifania A. Martinez, passed peacefully with her family by her bedside and was released from her earthly bonds, escorted by the Angels of our Heavenly Father on Aug.26, 2013 at the golden age of 92. Born Jan. 6, 1921 in Lockhart, she was a beloved mother, grandmother, great, great great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Epifania is preceded in death by her loving husband of 32 years Jesus H. Martinez; parents Juan and Maria Arredondo and sisters Juanita Ybarra, Agapita Arredondo, Elena San Miguel and Rosita Martinez. Epifania was strong willed with warmth and caring for others. Her life was long and had many chapters. She loved her church in Martindale where Epifania join la Socidad de Archicofradia of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. When not at church, Epifania was at home. Her passion was her soap operas In the kitchen, Epifania loved to cook during the holidays to create a family gathering second to none. She liked being in the garden where her plants and flowers would bloom. But, nothing meant more to her than her family, especially the grandchildren great and great great grandchildren. Though she may have left us, her legacy will continue. We thank you Lord for giving her to us for all the years we had her...... "we love you!" Your spirit will always be with us.
Surviving family are sons Frank Martinez and wife Rosie of Victoria, Deacon Jesse Martinez and wife Nelda and Juan Martinez and wife Rosa, both of Austin, Guadalupe Martinez and wife Abelina of Round Rock, Domingo Martinez and wife Juanita, Jose Martinez, and Luis Martinez and wife Virginia, all of Martindale; daughters Carmen Torres and husband Alejandro of Martindale and Antonia Doepner and husband Albert of Austin, sister Sipriana Rodriguez; 36 grandchildren; 34 great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren; with numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. today at the Los Angeles Funeral Home. Recitation of Rosary will be this evening at 7 p.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Martindale. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday morning at 11 a.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Rev. Father Brion Zarsky will officiate. Interment will follow in Memory Lawn Memorial Park in Martindale.
Serving as pallbearers are grandsons Jesse Jr., Juan Leo, James, Michael, Mark Anthony, Ricky Martinez, Alex Torres Jr. and Mark Anthony Ramirez.
