An active summer should always start with more running

The summer racing season is starting up and a good one to try is the Camp Ben McCulloch 5K Run and Walk out in Driftwood (across from the Salt Lick for you Bar-B-Q lovers) next Saturday.

The race starts at 8 a.m. and is an out-and-back certified course out on a paved county road. It is a scenic run and the after race sit back and relax atmosphere around Camp McCulloch is always welcome. I haven’t been out there yet this year, but if the river is up there is a chance for a quick swim in the river.

The race has five-year age groups for the top three finishers in each and Overall Male and Female and Masters Overall Male and Female awards. Entry fee is $30 and the proceeds from the race go toward helping with the restoration of the camp ground. Day of race registration goes from 6:30 - 7:15 a.m.
