Unitarian Universalists tend garden plot for Food Bank
The San Marcos Unitarian Universalist Fellowship (SMUUF) has volunteered to manage the Food Bank’s garden plot at the Alamo Community Gardens at the corner of Alamo and Harvard streets. All fresh produce from this garden will be donated to the Hays County Food Bank in the “Fresh Quest” campaign to provide fresh fruits and vegetables to Food Bank clients year round. June is National Hunger Awareness and Fresh Fruits and Vegetable Month. SMUUF volunteers have planted and are tending to squash, peppers, radishes, tomatoes and corn. The Alamo Community Gardens are part of the San Marcos Neighborhood Gardens project, which is a partnership between the city of San Marcos and the non-profit organization Sustainable San Marcos.
