SMHS golfers shoring up for district
San Marcos High School’s golfers have been tuning up for the upcoming District 25-5A tournament with some strong showings in recent tournaments.
Junior Lindsay Ferguson recently took fourth place at the Judson Invitational, carding scores of 73 and 82 at Starcke Park in Seguin.
Then last weekend, the SMHS boys took fourth place over all at the Northside ISD Invitational, held at the Golf Club of Texas. Dakota Levrier led the way with consecutive rounds of 80, while Mitchell Roberts shot back-to-back rounds of 82.
Joe Olivo shot 95 and 81, Brandon Walker carded 93 and 87, while Isaiah Zavala shot 87 and 105.
The girls District 25-5A tournament is scheduled for April 8-9 with the first round taking place at Seguin’s Starcke Park and the second round at Vaaler Creek in Blanco. The boys’ tournament is set for April 10-11 at the same courses.
“Both groups have been working and practicing had this season with the goal of performing well at district,” SMHS head golf coach Jason Pape said. “Hopefully we’ll come through with a strong showing.”
