The San Marcos High School girls basketball program recently held its annual awards banquet at the Embassy Suites.

From Staff Reports

San Marcos girls basketball reflected upon its 2012-13 campaign at the team’s annual awards banquet held last week at Embassy Suites.

Even though the Lady Rattlers fell short of the playoffs for a second consecutive season, many fond memories were shared.

Earning big awards were senior Michelle Moody, sophomore Bailey Hill and sophomore Madison Miles. Despite being injured for most of the season, Moody earned Most Valuable Player. Hill was named Offensive MVP, while Madison Miles brought home Defensive MVP.

Miles was the only player selected to the All-District First Team. Hill and senior Pamela Stover found a place on the second team, while sophomore Natalie Rios earned honorable mention.

Other award winners were senior Brianna Brown (Most-Improved), Rios (Rope Holder) and Stover (Rattler Pride).

Thirteen Lady Rattlers landed on the Academic All-District Team: Brown, junior manager Jasmine Byas, sophomore Sariah Gonzales, Hill, freshman Raelyn Jackson, senior Natalee Langford (TGCA All-State honors), sophomore Shannon Mathis, Miles, Moody, senior Adolynn Newton (TGCA All-State honors), Rios, Stover (also nabbed TGCA All-State honors) and junior Traci Tucker.
