HS Track: SM athletes look strong at Buffalo Relays
SCHERTZ — The San Marcos High School track and field team competed at the Schertz-Clemens Buffalo Relays Thursday with the varsity girls finishing third out of 14 teams and the boys placing seventh overall.
Sophomore Madison Miles led the way for the Lady Rattlers with 24 points, followed by junior Nikki Sanchez with 21.
Sanchez ran a personal best to win the 800-meter run with a time of two minutes, 16.6 seconds, and placed second in the 400 with a time of 1:00.10. She was also part of the 4x400 relay team along with Victoria Rinear, Alexandra Reyes and Miles which posted a season-best time of 4:08.
Miles took fourth in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.4 and finished fifth in the 200. She also soared to a second-place finish in the long jump with a leap of 16 feet, three inches and tied for second in the high jump after clearing 5-0.
