HS Softball: Lady Rattlers host Judson

San Marcos knew it had its work cut out for itself when it advanced to the Gold Bracket of its own Spring Break Classic. With how head coach Cathy Stoughton likes to invite some of the state’s best teams, anything can happen.

Despite a few good innings, the Lady Rattlers weren’t able to post a win Saturday in the final round of the tournament. San Marcos fell to St. Gerturdis Academy, 6-1, and then dropped a 4-1 decision to Pilot Point later that day.

Jenica Flores recorded the lone RBI in the first game, while Ellie Hernandez notched a run in the second.

Those losses dropped the Lady Rattlers to 14-10-1 overall and now they have a chance to get back in the win column where the games truly matter. Tonight, San Marcos hosts Converse-Judson in its third district game of the season.

Like the Lady Rattlers, the Lady Rockets are 1-1 in district play. Judson enters
tonight’s game fresh off a 13-0 loss to Smithson Valley last Tuesday night.
