HS Baseball: Rattlers come up short in playoffs

A 10-2 loss to San Antonio-Johnson left San Marcos head coach Bryan Webb at a loss for words and tears in many of the Rattlers’ eyes.

Even though last Thursday marked the fifth consecutive trip to the postseason for San Marcos, last Friday’s defeat established the fourth time Webb’s team lost in the bi-district round. This was the second time in the last three years the Rattlers met up with the Jaguars and both times ended in heartbreak for a senior-laden bunch.

“I’m kind of speechless right now,” Webb said. “I didn’t see that coming.
“We got to get over the hump. We have to get something up there (on the outfield fence) beside bi-district (banners).”
