Eppie Loure Lockhart Anderson Cole
Eppie Loure Lockhart Anderson Cole, "Lou,” was born Oct. 19, 1931, at 8 p.m. in the family home in Daingerfield.
She was named after her mother Eppie Loure Lockhart. Robert Hargett Lockhart, her father, was the owner of a meat market. Lou was the youngest of five brothers and three sisters, and the last to depart.
The family moved to Greenville in the 1930s. Lou's father died in 1940. Lou graduated from Greenville High in 1949. She attended nursing school in Dallas. Lou married Carl C. Anderson Jr., and they moved to Houston.
In February 1952, Carl C. Anderson III, the first of five children, was born. Stephen Allen Anderson, Janiece Leigh Anderson, Teresa Darlene Anderson and Cynthia Loure Anderson soon followed.
Years later, Lou and Carl were divorced, the result of his advanced mental instability. Carl was institutionalized and Lou, with the support of the Andersons and Lockharts, went on to raise her family of five. Returning to college, she obtained her bachelor's and master's degree from Stephen F. Austin University in Nacogdoches.
Lou moved her family to San Marcos in the early 1970s. She taught in the SMCISD and practiced as a speech pathologist in special education. On June 7, 1976, she married Charles W. Cole. Together they worked, golfed and enjoyed life for 36 years.
Lou is survived by her husband Charlie; son Carl and wife Elaine of San Marcos; son Steve of San Marcos; daughter Janiece of Bella Vista, Ark.; daughter Teresa of Austin; daughter Cindy and husband Mark of Lancaster, Calif.; grandchildren Elliott and wife Angel Anderson; Audrey Anderson; Nolan and wife Heather Anderson; Stacey Anderson; Seth Anderson; Joanie Anderson; Andrea Anderson; Ian Anderson and Joana Vasquez; two great-grandchildren, Alaina Anderson and Truth Anderson; step-children Donna and husband James Marshall; Charles W.
