Donna U. Reeder
A baby girl was born on November 14, 1933 at the Salvation Army Home for Unwed Mothers in Louisville, Ky. She was chosen to be adopted by a special single mother, Mary Belle Moseley who named her Donna Rene. Several years later Mary B. Moseley wed William John Underwood, who also chose to adopt Donna, so a special family was created.
Donna Rene Underwood Reeder died April 23, 2013 in San Marcos. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mary B and William J. Underwood and her son William Robert Penick.
Donna graduated from Shawnee High School and served as a Rural Letter Carrier for the United States Postal Service in Kentucky. She continued that career in California after her marriage to Charles Fredrick Reeder.
She retired from the USPS after 34 years of service and moved to San Marcos where she continued her work as a volunteer, mentor and active member of her church and community.
She is survived by her husband Fred and her sister Sharon. She is also survived by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great- grandchildren: Lynn and John Crump, Robin and Chris Zaborowski, Susan Penick and John “Andy” Penick; Brian and Jonna Crump, Rachael and Charlie Waldo, Forrest and Kelly Crump, Kendall Zaborowski, Emily Zaborowski, Nathan and Katie Penick, Sarah Penick, Tyson Fox, Kathryn and Kevin McWhirt, Bradley Penick, Aiden McWhirt, Madison Fox, David Service, Ginger and Philip Jacob, Brandy and Matt Bruce; Noelle Jacob, Ryan Jacob, Hunter Jacob, Justin Bruce, Gracie Bruce and Tabitha Bruce.
Visitation will be Friday, April 26 from 6-8 p.m. at Pennington Funeral Home. Her Celebration of Life Service will be Saturday, April 27 at 10:30 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church, San Marcos. Donna's ashes will be taken to Bardsdale Cemetery in California and buried.
In lieu of flowers the family wishes donations be made to the First Presbyterian Church of San Marcos, Texas, 410 West Hutchison, San Marcos.
