College Track and Field: Bobcats host 4th and final meet
Texas State will host the Bobcat Classic this weekend at the Texas State Track and Field Complex.
The meet, which will take place today and Saturday, will be the team’s fourth home meet of the season, and it’ll bring a crowded field of competitors, including Texas A&M’s No. 1 women’s team and No. 2 men’s team.
UTEP’s No. 25 men’s team will also compete along with teams ranked alongside Texas State in the south central region: Houston, SMU, Northwestern and Louisiana Tech. New Mexico State will be participating, a team ranked regionally in the mountain region.
Texas State currently boasts 40 athletes or relay team ranked in the top five in the Western Athletic Conference, including nine who are ranked atop their respective events.
The Bobcats will look to improve that number this weekend, starting at 11 a.m. Friday with the women’s and men’s discus and the women’s and men’s hammer throw. Saturday the track events start at 9 a.m. with the women’s 5,000-meter run while the field events start with the women’s javelin at 10 a.m.
