College Softball: Bobcats back at home against Louisiana Tech
The Texas State softball team will continue Western Athletic Conference play this weekend with a three-game home series against Louisiana Tech.
The series begins with today’s 4 p.m. doubleheader, followed by a 1 p.m.
Texas State (7-27, 2-4 WAC) is currently tied for sixth place in the WAC standings after winning two of three games at Seattle University last weekend.
The Bobcats are led in the circle by freshman Ashley Wright and junior Rayn House who both have three wins under their belt. House has a team-high 59 strikeouts in 93.0 innings pitched.
Senior Haley Lemons leads the Bobcats offense, hitting .288 with 30 hits and 14 runs scored. Anna Hernandez is the top hitter for the Texas State in conference play with a .438 hitting average.
Texas State has benefited from the long ball this season with 13 home runs, four more than 2012’s total of nine. Jordan Masek and Katie Doerre lead the way with three each, while Coralee Ramirez and Courtney Harris each have two.
Louisiana Tech (18-15, 4-2 WAC) is on a five-game win streak after sweeping Texas-Arlington last weekend and beating Nicholls State, 6-5, Tuesday night.
