Countdown to Kickoff: Three years removed from its jump to Division I, IWU is waiting for results

Incarnate Word put all of its chips in the middle of the table about four years ago.  
 
More appropriately, the largest Catholic school in Texas took a leap of faith. 
 
Despite very little success to speak of on the football field (10-21 across the previous three season), university officials announced in August 2012 that the Cardinals would jump from Division II to Division I.

Texas State may not win many games in 2016, but days like Wednesday and Thursday are evidence that players are buying into what Everett Withers and his staff are selling.
 
The hashtag #PartyInTheEndZone, Withers’ very own creation, was trending on Twitter at one point on Wednesday night.
 
And rightfully so.
 
The Bobcats landed four commitments in the span of 12 hours.
 

College Baseball: Texas State's Jonathan Hennigan elects to forgo senior season, signs with Philadelphia Phillies

Jonathan Hennigan is turning pro.
 
Hennigan told the Daily Record on Thursday afternoon that he has agreed to terms with the Philadelphia Phillies. Much like outfielder Granger Studdard, Hennigan, a junior left hander, will forgo his senior campaign at Texas State. He will report to the Phillies' short season Single A club later this week in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. 
 

UPDATE: Texas State adds four more verbal commitments during busy June

June has been a great month for Texas State on the recruiting trail.
 
The Bobcats’ hot streak continued on Wednesday when Cuero defensive end/ tight end Caeveon Patton, Seguin-Arlington offensive tackle Brian Parish, Arlington High School tight end Nic Foster and Duncanville athlete Jaylin Nelson all verbally committed to the program.
