Mayor Lew White recently welcomed young drivers as they visited Lockhart to promote the Lone Star Grand Prix (LSGP) scheduled in Lockhart March 2-3.
The street race is a family-oriented karting venue with free general admission to put karting in front of the general public.
More than 200 drivers will race on a track that encircles the historic courthouse and central business district. Drivers will race in individual categories.
Off site parking and shuttle service will bring participants to the downtown course.
Racers and spectators will be protected by street barricades and fencing with designated access points to interior businesses open for the benefit of the visitors.
Volunteers will be on hand directing and assisting visitors.
Elevated mobile cameras along the course will broadcast other areas of the track on a jumbo screen.
Local business establishments are planning for live streaming video presentation of the race throughout the weekend.
Shofner Films will premiere “Become One”, its full length kart racing documentary on Friday, March 1, at the Hometown Cinemas at 8:30 p.m.
White extends an invitation to everyone in the region to attend the Texas Lone Star Grand Prix.
