The drought — and occasional wind gusts — have taken their toll on local trees and shrubs. Tomorrow, local residents have a chance to get rid of newly-fallen rubbish.
The city of San Marcos will host its monthly brushy waste drop-off from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 750 River Road for residential garbage and recycling service customers.
The site can be reached from the San Marcos Animal Shelter entrance at 750 River Road and following the signs.
People wishing to drop off brush and other “green waste” must provide a copy of a city utility bill and unload their own material at the site.
Material that will be accepted includes tree/brush trimmings and wood debris suitable for tub grinding.
Brush containing barbed wire or other metals will not be accepted.
The service is open only to residential solid waste customers in San Marcos. Brush from commercial operations will not be accepted.
Residents are invited to load and take ground up mulch at the site as available.
The city has phased out onsite brush chipping at neighborhood clean-ups to reduce costs at the clean ups and to encourage use of the drop-off site.
Future brushy waste drop offs will be held on Aug. 10, Sep. 14, Oct.r 12, Nov. 9 and Dec. 14.
