Virginia Guerrero passed peacefully with her family by her side and was released from her earthly bonds and escorted by the Angels of our Heavenly Father on July 5, 2013 at the golden age of 94. Born May 1, 1919 in Reedville, she was a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother, great great great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Virginia is preceded in death by her loving husband of 45 years Jose M. Guerrero; sons Lorenzo Sr. and Benito Rodriguez; and parents Joe and Luisa Rivas. Her passions were sewing and crochet. In the kitchen, Virginia loved to make preserves. She liked being in the garden where her plants and flowers would bloom, a real green thumb. Her fondness was her dog "Chiquita" a pick-a poodle that she adored. Nothing meant more to her than her family, especially the grand, great grand, great great grand and great great great grandchildren. We thank Lord for giving her to us for as long as we had her. We Love You!” Your spirit will always be with us.
Surviving family are daughters Luisa Guerrero-Garza and Mary Rodiguez-Natal, both of San Marcos, sons Carmen Rodriguez and wife Carmen of San Marcos, and Jesus Guerrero of Lewisville; brother David Rivas of Monroe, La.; 16 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; five great great grandchildren; three great great great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 2 to 7:30 p.m. Monday, July 8 at Los Angeles Funeral Home. Recitation of Rosary will be at 7:30 that evening in the funeral home chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Rev. Father John Kim will officiate. Burial will follow in Memory Lawn Memorial Park, Martindale.
Serving as pallbearers are Lorenzo Rodriguez Jr., Gilbert Natal, Justin Guerrero, Mario Hernandez, Andre Ramirez, Kevin Sampson and Jason Bontrager.
