Texas State students bike across America
In the Sunday, July 21st edition of the Record, a story was reported on about Texas State Physical Therapy junior Julie and Education senior Matt Swallow who were getting ready for a 2,000 mile bike ride from the border of Canada to the border of Mexico.
After Julie’s aunt, Rosemary, was diagnosed with cancer last year, the Swallows wanted to raise money for the cause. They decided on a biking journey that would hopefully help raise $25,000 for the Austin affiliate of Susan G. Komen.
Now two weeks into their trip, Matt and Julie are keeping friends, family and anyone interested up to date through their blog apinkframeofmind.blogspot.com.
The log of their journey includes flat tires, lots of rain, doggy woes, sore muscles and the kindness of strangers. They even met a biking couple from Austin cycling through Washington.
The Swallows are still looking to get the miles of the trip sponsored through donations made at www.crowdrise.com/APinkFrameofMind/fundraiser/mattswallow. They have more than 300 miles sponsored so far.
