San Marcos Culinary Arts students rise to occasion at challenge

Five students in the San Marcos High School’s Culinary Arts program competed at the South Texas Culinary Challenge at Samuel E. Clemmons High School in Shertz. All five placed in their categories, taking first to sixth place.

• Allison Guzman (earned first place honors in the Cupcake division with her S’Mores Cupcakes.

• Jonathan Rocha (took fourth place in the Tasty Cakes division with his chocolate-coconut cake.

• The team of Collin Camacho-Dicks and Fernando Carrasco took fifth in the Mystery Challenge with their entrée of chicken with potatoes and carrots.

• James Brady took sixth place in the Tasty Cakes division with a Dr. Pepper cake with Dr. Pepper frosting.
