Oscar Silva, 53, of Staples, passed away Sunday, March 10, 2013.
Oscar was a well known artist with collectors throughout the world. He received his BA in Studio Art from Texas State University San Marcos and his Masters from UNT, Denton.
He had a unique vision and led us to discover that art was in everything around us, just waiting to be seen — and that’s what he did — he opened our eyes. With his passing we are left less than we were, and blinded by grief.
He is survived by parents Isidro (Chico) and Esperanza (Hope) Silva; sister Martha and her husband Mike; nephew Michael; Hope’s family; and his best friend and partner of 28 years Varner Pinckney.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Los Angeles Funeral Home with Rosary to follow at 7:30 p.m. Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at St. John Catholic Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a donation be made in Oscar’s name to the American Heart Association.
