HS Soccer: SM boys, girls suffer losses

Smithson Valley posted three second-half goals en rout to a 3-0 win over the San Marcos High School girls’ soccer team Friday night at the SMHS Soccer Field.

The Lady Rangers got two goals from Katelyn Fouse and another from Emily Luther.
San Marcos fell to 8-9-1 overall and 1-5-0 in District 25-5A play, while Smithson Valley upped its overall record to 9-6-2 and 4-2-0 in 25-5A.

The Lady Rattlers are back in action Tuesday night with a 7:15 p.m. game at New Braunfels.

SPRING BRANCH — The San Marcos High School boys soccer team found it difficult to establish any sort of offense in a 3-0 District 25-5A loss at Smithson Valley Friday night.

San Marcos fell to 6-7-4 overall and 1-3-2 in district play, while Smithson Valley improved to 3-2-1 in 25-5A and 9-7-1 overall.

“We couldn’t string passes together,” SMHS head boys’ soccer coach Sean Dickson said. “Their speed and ability that changed the point of attack really caused us problems.”

San Marcos is back in action Tuesday with a 7:15 p.m. home game against New Braunfels.

LHS wins first-ever district title
The Lehman High School boys’ soccer team claimed the school’s first-ever district championship by any athletic program with Friday night’s 6-2 win over Bastrop at Bob Shelton Stadium.

The win allowed the Lobos to claim the district title with two games remaining. LHS is now 10-0 in district, 15-0-1 overall.
Eli Guajardo led the Lobos with a three-goal game, while Diego Garcia scored two and Mario Garcia posted the other.

Lehman is back in action Friday with a 7:45 p.m. home game against Lockhart.
