HS Baseball: San Marcos, Judson renew heated rivalry
It’s much too early in District 25-5A play to label a game as a must-win situation.
But considering the history between the San Marcos Rattlers and Converse-Judson, tonight’s game at Rocket Field carries a bit more significance than most early-district meetings. The two teams have faced off six times in the past two years, ending District 25-5A tied for second place after splitting league games in 2011 and 2012. San Marcos wound up winning both district playoff meetings (11-0 in 2011 and 5-2 in 2012), claiming the district’s second playoff seed behind New Braunfels.
“It’s pretty rare to play a district team six times in two years, but that just goes to show how solid of a program they always have,” SMHS head baseball coach Bryan Webb said. “We know that when we play Judson, it’s always going to be a knock-down, drag-out game.”
