College Softball: State, Lamar meet for 1st time

Texas State and Lamar spent 12 years together in the Southland Conference, so it’s safe to say those teams met up in quite a few clashes. From baseball to tennis, through the regular season and postseason, the Bobcats and Cardinals developed a small rivalry with slight bragging rights on the line.

A sport in which Texas State and Lamar never dueled was softball. It was tough to do when the Cardinals didn’t have a program until this season.

“They’re actually playing really well,” Bobcats head coach Ricci Woodard said. “I haven’t even looked at them too much.”
