College Baseball: Bobcats blast DBU, play error-free ball
Dallas Baptist seemed content pumping Texas State fastballs last weekend. Even though the Bobcats worked a bunch of hitters’ counts, the Patriots must have read an incorrect scouting report that said Ty Harrington’s team couldn’t hit high heat.
Texas State didn’t complain. Harrington’s bunch just made DBU pay, especially last Saturday.
Behind a balanced attack by their offense, an errorless game by their defense and solid relief pitching, the Bobcats took the rubber match of the series on Senior Day. Texas State broke a close game open late, earned a 12-8 win over the Patriots and will be the third seed in this week’s Western Athletic Conference Tournament.
“Overall, it was a great team effort today,” Bobcat sophomore second baseman Colby Targun said. “It took pitching, defense and hitting to make this happen.
“We really hit the ball well. They fell behind in the counts, which led for more fastballs for us to see and as a team, we jumped all over it.”
