Alfredo ‘Fred’ R. Sanchez Sr.
Alfredo “Fred” R. Sanchez Sr., resident of San Marcos, was received in the hands of our Heavenly Father on March 6, 2013 at the young age of 66.
Born July 9, 1946 in San Marcos, he was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and uncle. He is proceeded in death by his loving daughter Elizabeth Sanchez; parents Epifanio and Dolores Sanchez; son-in-law Ricardo “Ricky” Luna; sisters Pancha Samaniego and Felipa Coronado; and brother Juan Sanchez.
Fred honored his family and country serving in the U.S. Army in the early 70s and re-enlisted in the Army National Guard for an additional seven more years. Our father worked hard for many years for Wide Lite Corp. After 26 years, he retired. Fred had many chapters in his life. He loved sports, especially football.
On Saturdays, it was Hook’em Horns. On Sunday, it was the Dallas Cowboys. When the season was over, it was the Spurs. But, when it came to the TV, it was mostly Bonanza and the Rifleman. Western movies is what he watched so much. If Fred had a passion, it was his music. He loved his guitars. He was a collector of them....eleven in total. Fenders and Gibsons just to name a few. He was into writing music as well. But, most important in life, was his wife and family. His laughter, caring and warmth will always be remembered and not forgotten in our hearts, and like the wind, never seen but his presence will always be felt around us.
Survivors are his wife of 15 years Fidela T. Sanchez; daughters Ana Luna of San Antonio, Cynthia Carrizales and Christina Rodriguez and husband Randy, both of San Marcos; sons Alfredo Sanchez Jr. and wife Melissa of San Marcos, Jaiver James Sanchez and fiancee Kathleen of San Antonio; step-daughter Melissa Lopez and husband Mario; step-son Paul Lopez Jr. both of San Marcos; special nieces Angela and Veronica Martinez; grandchildren Ricky and Ryan Luna, Zac and C.J.
